Financial information is required for two specific reasons:

1. Internal use i.e. for management to make decisions for their business and

2. External use i.e. for institutions such as banks, suppliers and tax authorities.

The planning of the activities of an undertaking is normally summarised in a financial budget. A budget is a statement of financial objectives for future periods, normally in the same format as financial statements.

This short learning programme develops the skills and knowledge required of an accounting trainee in areas introduced in the Bookkeeping to Trial Balance foundation programme and in other areas such as budgeting, debtors (credit granting) and creditors, inventories, fixed assets and year end procedures.
